JOB SUMMARY

To provide individual, family and group counseling, in accordance with the agencies’ policies and procedures manual, for the clients in order to enhance their emotional, behavioral, and social functioning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

RESPONIBILITIES

  • Promote the mission of SOS Children’s Villages-Florida.
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with the SOS Children’s Villages-Florida Core Values.
  • Demonstrate initiative in carrying out all duties and responsibilities.
  • Provide routine counseling services as scheduled and be available on call on nights and weekends.
  • Complete treatment plans and updates for each case assigned.
  • Complete on-going clinical notes and related documentation to accurately reflect treatment interventions and progress.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate all treatment needs.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences as needed.
  • Responsible to monitor, track and report all grant and contract outcome measurements.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Conduct assessments for all clients referred for therapeutic services.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with ChildNet and other service providers, community agencies and governmental entities that are associated with the care and treatment of SOS clients.
  • Respond to crisis in a manner that serves to promote physical and emotional safety and well-being.
  • Assist, substitute for, or help other staff when called upon to ensure safety and continuity of coverage and care or treatment of SOS clients.
  • Interact with clients, all agency staff, and other individuals in a caring and professional manner.
  • Attend required in-service trainings and other staff/program meetings as scheduled.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate all required documentation and reports in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate understanding of all procedures relevant to the care and treatment of SOS clients.
  • Be aware of and implement all local and state requirements for the care and handling of clients, including the reporting of suspected abuse and/or neglect.
  • Report all issues, concerns, problems, or situations that may adversely affect the welfare and safety of the clients, staff, or program to the Social Services Manager in a timely manner.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field, and at least one (1) years of professional experience providing therapeutic services in an agency/program specializing in the treatment of children or adolescents.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Florida is preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects; work may also require balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
